DIVISION 4 - PRESCHOOL AGE GROUP
- Meets on Sunday for one hour - the first half is practice and the second half a game (30 minutes).
- Practice/game starts at 12 noon on Sunday
- Play 3 v. 3, NO GOALIE.
- I ask that you please adhere to the NO GOALIE rule and do not encourage players to stand in front of the net acting as a goalie. The nets are already pretty small, when we have players building a wall in front of the nets it is frustrating for the other teams. This is also the area that I get the most complaints in – either because the other team can’t score, or the parents are frustrated that their player is just standing in front of the net and not playing the game.
- The teams have 7 or 8 players each.
- The rules are very informal at this age group. They should not use their hands, not pretend to be a goalie, and not do anything to hurt another player.
- We do not have corners or penalty kicks at this age group.
- This age group is not ready for throw ins so if the ball goes out of bounds the coaches should just toss it back on the field and continue play.
- No practices during the week
- This season we will have 12 teams in this division. With 12 teams and only 8 weeks of play each team will not play each other.
- Most teams have 2 coaches assigned. If you will BOTH be out any week please let me know ASAP so I can arrange for a sub. All subs have to go through the credential process so we cannot allow a parent to step in as a sub if they have not been credentialed.
- Hopefully every player has arrived with the following items and is ready to play:
a. Soccer ball (size 3 preferred)
b. Shin guards
c. Cleats
d. Water bottle
e. Soccer socks (this is a preference for Divisions 3 and 4, but strongly recommended as they help keep the shin guards in place and keep the players from fiddling with them all practice/game).
If a player forgot a ball, or you need any extra ball for a drill, we have a few in the shed and can lend them out for practice/games.
We also have cones that can be lent out for practice drills.
The nets and cones are used for the D3 games immediately after the D4 so please do not clear the cones or nets after your game.
Please make sure anything that is borrowed is returned as we have limited supplies.
I hope that every player’s family will treat you with respect this season. However, if you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or a board member for assistance.
