Are the rules listed somewhere?

1. When does the season begin and how long will it run?     The Spring 2009 season runs from April 12 to June 7 with June14 reserved as a makeup day.  We play every week with the exception of Memorial Day weekend.  Click here to return to the top.

2. When are games?     Games are always on Sundays.  The first games for Divisions 1 and 2 are at 12:30 and run every hour after that.  Similarly, Division 3 and 4 games begin at 12:00 and run every hour after that.  Please check the schedule to determine the exact time for your child's game.  Click here to return to the top.

3. Where are the games held?     All In Town games are played at the Samoset field on DeCicco Dr.  For directions to the field, please see the Fields section of our web site.  Click here to return to the top.

4. When are practices?     Divisions 3 and 4 do not practice during the week.  They have a half hour practice followed by a half hour game on Sundays.  Divisions 1 and 2 have a 1 hour practice during the week.  Practices can be Monday - Friday and begin as early as 5:00 and as late as 6:30.  Your coach chooses the practice time.  Click here to return to the top.

5. What equipment does my child need?     Your child will need to have shin pads, a size 3 ball and a water bottle at every practice and game.  Cleats are required for Divisions 1 and 2.  While cleats are not required for Divisions 3 and 4, they are highly recommended since they help with traction when the field is wet.  Please be aware that jewelry (including studs) is NOT allowed while on the soccer field.  All jewelry must be removed before play begins.  Click here to return to the top.

6. I haven't heard anything.  When will I find out what team my child is on?     We hold a coaches meeting 2 to 3 weeks before the beginning of the season.  Coaches receive their rosters at this meeting and begin calling their players shortly after.  You should receive a call from your coach a week to 2 weeks before the beginning of the season.  Click here to return to the top.

7. I have registered late.  How do I know if my child has made it on a team?     We try very hard to get every child that wants to play on a team.  If the division that your child plays in has filled up, then the In Town Director will contact you to let you know.  At that point, your child would be placed on a waiting list to see if a spot opens up.  If your child does not get placed on a team, your registration fee will be refunded.  Click here to return to the top.

8.  I  am confused about the dates.  When is my child old enough to play?     Our in town program is set up for children between the ages of 4 and 8.  A child must be born between August 1, 2000 and July 31, 2004 in order to be eligible to play in our in town program.  Click here to return to the top.

9. My child is 4 but did not make the July 31 cut off.  Can he/she still play?     We do accept kids into the in town program that do not make the July 31 cut off as long as they are 4 before the start of the season.  The only caveat is that since they do not make the age cut off to move up until the following fall season, they spend 3 seasons in Division 4 rather than the traditional 2 seasons.  Some kids find this long and loose interest before they are old enough to move up.  Others are not quite old enough to understand playing as a team  and get upset when the ball is taken away from them or just stand on the field rather than try to run after the ball and kick it.  We leave it up to you to decide what is best for your child.  Click here to return to the top.

10. My child missed the July cut off, but will be 4 before the beginning of the season.  Why can't I sign up online?     Our online registration is designed to only accepts kids that fall within the cut off dates.  Because your child is technically too young, you must contact the In Town Director to assist in your online sign up.  If you send an email to intowndirector@leominsteryouthsoccer.org with the following information, it will expedite the online registration of 4 year old:

Your name

Your address

Your home phone number

Your cell phone number

Your email address

Your child's name

Your child's date of birth

The shirt size you wish to order for your child

If you are ordering socks or shorts, the sizes you wish to order

Any medical concerns for your child

As and alternative, you may download a copy of the form from the Registration section of our website, fill it out and send it to our PO Box along with a photo copy of your child's birth certificate and a check for the registration fee plus any additional fees associated with the purchase of socks and/or shorts should you decide to purchase them.  Click here to return to the top.

11. My Child missed the July cut off but will be 4 during the season.  Can he/she still play?     No, Children must be 4 years old by the first game in order to play.  Click here to return to the top.

12. My daughter just got her ears pierced.  Can can she wear her earrings while playing soccer?  No.  Leominster Youth Soccer is affiliated with he Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League and we follow the rules that they put forth.  All jewelry is considered dangerous and is not tolerated.  Exceptions are made for Medical Id Bracelets, which must be taped down with athletic tape.  Click here to return to the top.

13. Are the rules listed somewhere?  Yes.  The rules that all of Leominster Youth Soccer follows may be found in the NVYSL Bylaws (PDF).  These rules are written specifically for travel teams.  In Town teams follow the rules for the U10, 6v6 travel team with a few differences.  To view these differences, see the In Town Rules Click here to return to the top.
